ASMR Origins and first experiences
Back during the first iteration of my website I had a few posts titled ASMR Origins where I asked ASMR YouTubers if they would kindly explain their first experiences of ASMR.
One who kindly replied was SouthernGalWhisper

I first started experiencing ASMR when I was a child in school. Mostly around story time, independent work time, test taking, and especially in the computer labs.
Something about the quietness of a big classroom with small movements and noises really got me relaxed; so relaxed I would almost fall asleep!
Also when I would hear someone whispering, no matter where I was, I would instantly get tingles (Whisper videos are my favorite.)
Once I found the ASMR community here on YouTube some months ago, I started watching role-plays, flipping through magazines, and so many more things I found that triggered ASMR.
Every single night for the past couple months, I watch about 5 different videos to help get me to sleep.
I now can’t sleep without watching them, but when I do watch them, I sleep more soundly than I ever have before!
ASMR is more than relaxation to me, it’s a form of therapy, stress reliever, and a sleeping pill.
